Vineyards
Today, Mikrosvín Mikulov operates 520 ha of its own vineyards, with only a part, mainly from the Mikulov region, being processed by Mikrosvín itself for its own use. All wines are made exclusively from our own raw material, which is harvested on twelve vineyard lines in the municipalities of Mikulov, Dolní Dunajovice, Perná, Březí and Dobré Pole. Our vineyards of Železná, Goldhamer and Purmice are the absolute top.

Terroir
The Mikulov region. From the wine-growing point of view, this is a phenomenon not only because of the high summer temperatures, but mainly thanks to Pálava - the outmost outcrop of the limestone White Carpathians set on the edge of the floodplain forests of the lower Dyje river region. Today, this a protected landscape area. The southern slopes of the Pálava, protected from the cold winds coming down the Dyje-Svratka rivers valley from Brno, are among the best vineyard in the Mikulov region and in the Czech Republic in general.
The calcium rich soil limits the growth of the vines focusing on their quality, giving the wines from the Mikulov region a unique character of a real spiciness and density. We produce some wines with a distinctive fruity character. The overripe grapes are used to produce wines with distinctive honey taste, full-bodied, dense and mineral, with a botrytic nature. The Welschriesling, alongside which Pinot Blanc and especially the related Chardonnay stand out as the premium grape varieties in these vineyards. In recent years, some local new varieties have also been successfully produced – e.g. Pálava, Aurelius and the foreign Kerner variety, which is particularly suitable for calcareous soils.
The clay soils of Dolní Dunajovice, Březí and Dobré Pole have long been dominated by Welschriesling, Veltliner and - on less suitable parts - Müller Thurgau. In addition, as vineyard slopes of these municipalities rise above the valley stream of cool air, they have always produced excellent wines of the Riesling and Tramin varieties.
